Re: SAP Landscape Hana Readiness

ok, I can't leave this alone, because I need to find the answers, and I need the definitive scientific bullet proof answers.

More digging, reading, digging, this is what I have found this morning, to cut a long hunt and story short:

OSS Note 1849151 - SAP NetWeaver 7.4 Java on HANA release information

says...

With SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SP04 the components of the following instances based on Application Server Java are released for use with SAP HANA Database 1.00:

Application Server Java

NW Product Description

Adobe Document Services

PDF Export (ALV Export)

Demo Applications

BPM

EP Core - Application Portal

Enterprise Portal

EP Content

BI Java Advanced

Adapter Engine Extnd

PI Adapter Engine (Java EE)

Enterprise Services Repository

Composite App. Framework

Composition Platform

Guided Procedures

AS Java Extensions

Development Infrastructure

now we are getting somewhere, we're still missing our other Java components, eg CLM - more hunting to do for that one

but, I still need to find the equivalent Note for ABAP, let's not forget, we have this _ABAP_ Note...

1774566 - SAP Business Suite - Restrictions

This note applies as well to the latest enhancement package versions as listed below: SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0, SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP CRM 7.0, SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP SCM 7.0, SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP SRM 7.0. These enhancement package version are the go-to-versions for all further SAP Business Suite on HANA innovations including SRM on HANA.

That's great, but what about the other ABAP products, for example GTS, AT&T, GBT etc

Two more useful Notes:

1515223 - SAP Process Integration: Release Recommendation

1747907 - HANA Platform is supported by NWDI

We have the MDM Note too, so we're now not too far away.

During this hunt I also came through these useful documents...

Master Guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.4

https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000896802012E.pdf

which says...

SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java 7.4 SP03 or higher based on SAP HANA As of SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SP03, the SAP HANA database supports SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java and further product instances that are dependent on AS Java.

For more information in terms of the implementation of SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java 7.4 based on SAP HANA database, see the End-to-End Implementation Roadmap for SAP NetWeaver AS Java based on SAP HANA In terms of the implementation of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.4 based on SAP HANA, see the End-to-End Implementation Roadmap for SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP

End- to-End Implementation Roadmap SAP BW powered by SAP HANA

End- to-End Implementation Roadmap for SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP. https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000488912013E.pdf

End- to-End Implementation Roadmap for SAP NetWeaver AS Java. https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000743412013E.pdf

These two roadmaps are actually very nicely written, and really explain the different paths to Hana and possibilities, classical migration, DMO etc and the ABAP one gives a nice decision table for helping with the process.

I'll now start compiling this research internally into a table, it's looks like I now have most components and I need to also check, from the versions we have can we upgrade directly to 7.4 or EHP7 or EHP3, or, do we need an intermediate upgrade step - more research to do.

Final comments, dear colleagues at SAP, Hana Product Managers, it would be really useful to the whole customer base if you had this Hana compatibility and readiness matrix in one place as suggested in the first post in this discussion.

For the last few years you've been telling us how to build the case for Hana, now that we have built that case can you save every customer a few days of labour and research by centrally keeping uptodate the SAP Landscape Hana Readiness versions matrix, and save others having to go through this initial effort.

Best regards,

Andy.
